Does breed type influence methane emissions from cattle? (from Thedairysite.com)
This article outlines a recently published study at Aberystwyth University study which looked at the role of traditional and modern breeds of beef cattle in influencing methane emissions. The study was the first to quantify methane emissions for free-ranging beef cattle pastured on common grassland types in the lowlands and the uplands of the UK. LEAP launches guidelines on the environmental performance of feed additives in livestock supply chains
The International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF) recently announced the official release of the LEAP guidelines on the environmental performance of feed additives in livestock supply chains, which are available for download and dissemination from the LEAP website.  IFIF is a founding partner of LEAP and was closely involved in the development of the feed additives guidance document though its expert members’ participation in the LEAP TAG on Feed Additives.  The guidelines will further support efforts to reduce the impact of livestock products on the environment.
