DSF Members’ Webinar Series
DSF Members’ Webinar Series
Running since May this year, we have been pleased with the enthusiastic feedback received from Members as we continue to focus on the DSF global sustainability criteria. In November we heard from UK based member, Meadow Foods Ltd. Alun Lewis shared the approach Meadow Foods has taken to achieve zero waste to landfill, reducing plastic and food waste.
This month members heard from Jonathan Statham, UK Vet and co-author of the recently published GRA & GDP report “Dairy Cattle Health and Greenhouse Gas Emissions Pilot Study”. Jonathan outlined the findings of the study undertaken with Cranfield University (UK), exploring the opportunity for cost-effective mitigation of GHG emissions through implementation of key Animal Health Improvement Measures (AHIM). The study covered dairy production in Chile, Kenya and the UK. He linked the study findings with his practical experiences as a cattle vet to explore how members might encourage dairy farmers to be more proactive in this area. If you missed either of these, a recording is available in the DSF Members section of the website.
On January 20th 2021 we look forward to hearing from Leo van Sijll of Hochwald Foods GmbH, Germany who will deliver a session titled ‘A thriving rural economy: one of the main pillars of a truly sustainable dairy framework’. Members will be sent details for registering for each webinar in advance.
