DSF Annual Sustainability Progress 2023 Calendar year Reporting published
The DSF Annual Sustainability Progress was published at the DSF Annual Meeting in Paris last month. Covering environmental, economic and social sustainability through 11 Criteria and associated indicator metrics, this report provides an aggregate analysis of the sector’s performance for the 2023 calendar year reporting.
Some highlights include:
- The DSF accounts for approximately 30% of global dairy cow and buffalo milk production which is equivalent to 52% or global formal milk production.
- Animal Care, GHG Emissions and Rural Economies continue to be the 1, 2 and 3 most prioritised criteria respectively for the second consecutive year.
- The second year of reporting gender profile across the dairy value chain saw greater participation from members reporting, strengthening the data captured on the value of dairy in the social sustainability pillar.
- New for this year is information about the types of external stakeholders DSF members are engaging with, as they progress with their sustainability efforts. An integral part of the DSF implementation process is the formation by each member of a Local multi-stakeholder Management Group (LMG). These stakeholders take an interest in dairy sustainability and are used by the DSF member to help support identification of their priorities and how they are addressed.
