DSF Biodiversity Community of Interest starts in June
DSF Biodiversity Community of Interest starts in June
Biodiversity is currently declining at an unparalleled rate across the world and there is an urgent need for action. As custodians of land, the dairy industry has the opportunity to play a positive role in being part of the required change and can enhance biodiversity. As one of the 11 DSF Criteria, biodiversity has been prioritised by over 81% of DSF Members’ milk volume, who are striving to enhance biodiversity on dairy farms. To support Members’ efforts, the DSF is starting their next community of interest focusing on Biodiversity. The Communities of Interest are open to all Implementing and Aggregating DSF members.
Brian Lindsay, DSF Director who is facilitating the first meeting comments “We are kicking off with a ‘Biodiversity 101’ delivered by Courtney Hall, Director of Sustainable Livestock Systems at WWF, one of the world’s leading conservation (biodiversity) organisations. Courtney works at WWF-US and leads WWF’s work in animal protein and feed systems. This session will provide an overview of the biodiversity dairy interaction, as well as exploring opportunities & challenges for the sector."
The meeting is taking place on 6 June at 20h00 - 21h00 (UK time), any implementing or Aggregating DSF Members wishing to attend, please contact the DSF Secretariat for a link to join the call.
