European Green Deal – the European Dairy Industry is ready to join forces to tackle all environmental and climate challenges
In mid-December 2019, the European Commission presented the ‘European Green Deal’, the EU flagship initiative with the objective to transform Europe and shape the future of the European continent and the EU dairy industry.
The ‘Green Deal’ is about more than just climate change — it’s designed as a broad response to a host of societal and environmental challenges.
The commitment to a “Farm to Fork” strategy is meant to transform the whole food system: a ‘zero pollution ambition’ aimed at protecting human and environmental health, a new circular economy action plan, a biodiversity strategy for 2030 and a climate law to enshrine the goal of climate-neutrality by 2050 into legislation is also included.
