FAO Report: Climate Change and the Global Dairy Sector

This FAO study constitutes a time series GHG study (as opposed to the usual ‘snap shot’ approach associated with studies of this nature) for the 10-year period 2005 – 2015.

The dairy sector has made considerable progress through this 10-year period.  Whilst increasing milk output globally by 30% during the period, emissions intensity was reduced by 11% with the greatest progress being made in the low to middle income dairy regions, which is extremely exciting!

The report’s positive messages are also supported with areas the sector can continue to build on these numbers and improve further, which like any responsible industry, the dairy sector must continue to do.
