J-Milk joins the DSF as the Aggregating Member for Japan
J-Milk (Japan Dairy Association) consists of 23 dairy organization members such as the Japan Dairy Council (Farm Milk Production Organization), Japan Dairy Industry Association (Dairy Processor Organization) which cover the entire milk supply chain from production, processing and distribution and handling 95% (approx. 7 million tons annually) of the national milk supplied in Japan.
In 2019, J-Milk formulated a dairy proposal titled “Aiming for a sustainable industry that grows vibrantly and reliably - A strategic vision for the future prospects of the Japan dairy sector". This vision clarifies the sustainability situation for Japan’s dairy industry, the strategic perspectives which industry should work on its own, and collaborative actions to work together.
As a signatory of the IDF’s Declaration of Rotterdam, the DSF approach will support the Japanese Dairy Sector on delivering an aligned plan for improving its sustainability performance. J-Milk will deliver its strategic vision by starting with a materiality assessment and prioritization of the 11 DSF Criteria, whilst reflecting Japan's unique circumstances such as the climate, geographic and market characteristics.
J-Milk has registered as an DSF Aggregating member to ensure that Japanese dairy sector initiatives are aligned both nationally and globally by adopting same DSF Criteria and framework delivery system.
"We look forward to working with DSF, aligning and connecting with existing DSF Members to make progress to the future of Sustainable Dairy Sector both locally and globally."
