Recognizing the value of the DSF approach, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and Global Dairy Platform (GDP) supported the implementation of the DSF in Kenya, India, Rwanda and Vietnam to demonstrate how the DSF framework approach can effectively support emerging dairy regions and importantly to understand what the barriers to adoption might be.
The project, Dairy for Social Impact, has recently completed four pilots in Kenya, Rwanda, Vietnam and India assisting dairy organisations in emerging dairy markets to implement the DSF. This is a process implemented by all DSF member organisations that includes the review and prioritisation of sustainability challenges, and establishment of an external stakeholder Local Management Group (LMG) to act as a support group for sustainability topics. Reviewing and prioritising challenges particular to both the region and business specifically ensures that improvement strategies are effective and deliver tangible results, while the LMG provides valuable input from a stakeholder’s perspective.
The case studies capture the experiences of these leading dairy organisations in four different geographies and markets to provide guidance to others who are at an early stage of their sustainability journey. These exciting and varied case studies are now available on the DSF website. They are a very clear outline of how these organizations approached the DSF process, solved challenges and engaged others, both internally and externally, on their journey to achieve positive outcomes. Read the case studies.
