Excellent beginnings for the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Community of Interest
Excellent beginnings for the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Community of Interest
Hot on the heels of the Animal Care Community of Interest (CI) group, the GHG Emissions CI met in early February. Joe McMahan of Innovation Center for US Dairy, DSF Aggregating Member for the U.S., is the lead for this community. The CI will provide a great opportunity for DSF members who have prioritized this Criteria to seek solutions from colleagues working in the same space in different global regions.
14 DSF members from nine countries joined a robust and productive discussion about the challenges they faced in this area and a willingness to share solutions – what has worked and what has not worked, the expertise members could bring to the discussion and topics on which to focus. The group were particularly interested to explore the social science aspect of how to motivate farmers to implement strategies to reduce GHG emissions. It was agreed to meet every 6 weeks. If you are a DSF aggregating or implementing member and missed the first meeting, it is not too late to join the group, please email the DSF Secretariat for details of the next meeting.
Our next CI to be established will be Soils and we are seeking a DSF member to be the lead for this group. Do contact us if you are interested!
