Granlatte-Granarolo Group and Conapi win European award for their cows & bees biodiversity project
Congratulations to DSF member Granlatte, for winning the European Bee Award 2024 for their collaborative work with Conapi, the Italian National Consortium of Beekeepers. Participants at the 2024 DSF Annual meeting will recall one of our breakout presentations given by Lorenzo Cimatti from Granlatte about the innovative project to protect bees and other pollinators by helping to preserve biodiversity on dairy farms in Italy. In December, at a ceremony held at the European Parliament, the project won the award in the category “Land management practices to protect and improve pollinators in the agricultural environment”, recognising the value of this unique and distinctive collaboration between Italy’s largest cooperative of milk producers and Europe’s largest cooperative of beekeepers. The two organisations have united to promote and develop practical actions that contribute to creating the right living conditions for bees and other pollinators, encouraging their presence in cultivated areas and enriching biodiversity in the agricultural environment.
For more about the project, there’s a short video, A barn for two: a compelling story of biodiversity, and you can watch a recording of the breakout session (in English) from the DSF Annual meeting (approximately 2 hours 56 minutes into the recording) for further information.
