International Dairy Federation (IDF) launches Verification Tool for Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)

The IDF has introduced a new tool to enhance the quality and consistency of Life Cycle Analysis (LCA). The Verification Tool (Version 1) is a user-friendly Excel worksheet, designed to support users to verify their LCA against the IDF standard, ensuring all relevant emissions sources are considered and justified.

The tool focuses on the Cradle to Farm Gate lifecycle stage for dairy, covering the largest portion of emissions from most dairy value chains. This stage is where most tool development and comparative LCA studies have focused, meeting a significant portion of current needs. Future versions will extend to cover the rest of the value chain.
