UNEA-6 Assembly
UNEA-6 Assembly
The sixth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-6) will be taking place at the end of February at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. With a universal membership of all 193 Member States, the UNEA is the world’s highest-level decision-making body for matters related to the environment. The UNEA “aims to help restore harmony between humanity and nature, improving the lives of the world’s most vulnerable people”.
The focus of the UNEA-6 session will be how Member States collaboratively can help tackle the triple planetary crisis of climate change, nature and biodiversity loss, and pollution and waste. Underpinned by robust science, political resolve and engagement with society, the Assembly is an opportunity for world governments, civil society groups, the scientific community and the private sector to shape the global environmental policy.
With DSF Members submitting their annual reporting data in March, the evidence aggregated reporting provides is immensely valuable when sharing and collaborating with others at meetings such as this one. Global Dairy Platform and DSF will be actively participating at UNEA-6 seeking meaningful and impactful outcomes that the dairy sector can support.
