Welcome from the GDAA Chairman
Welcome to the third edition of the GDAA newsletter. I am pleased to share with you the appointment of two new Governors for the GDAA.
Mr. Ian Halliday, Managing Director of Dairy Australia who will ‘represent’ the Australasia region and Mrs. Barbara O’Brien, President of the Innovation Centre for US Dairy, who will bring the North American continent view to the governors table. I am delighted that both Ian and Barb have committed themselves to working at the Governance level of the GDAA.

By Brian Lindsay, DSF Development Director This conference, which was held in the wonderful Mexican city of Queretaro, from September 8-11 was organized by one of our GDAA Governors, FEPALE, in conjunction with their Mexican members, Canilec. 1500 delegates from 25 countries descended into Queretaro for 3 full days of analysis of the opportunities and challenges for the central and southern Americas dairy sector. Growth of the sector was a key theme, with countries who are not yet providing a level of dairy self sufficiency being encouraged to not only grow to fill this gap, but also to look to potential export markets. It was often stated that this region could feed the growing world population. |
