Product Safety and Quality
Global Criteria
- Criteria Overview: Read and download the Product Safety and Quality Criteria Overview.
- Strategic Intent: The integrity and transparency of the dairy supply chain is safeguarded, so as to insure the optimal nutrition, quality, and safety of products.
- Indicators: A: Do you have a Product Safety Assessment and Recall Plan (PS&RP)? B: If yes, how many public product recalls did you have for the reporting period?
- Theory of change: A well-developed Product Safety and Recall Plan will help producers understand and manage their product safety issues and identify the strategies being taken to ensure the nutrition, quality and safety of their products. Once a plan is in place, tracking the number of product safety recalls will track the effectiveness of the plan. Creating a benchmark of existing practices and priorities will help determine whether management changes have resulted in the desired outcomes.
- Reporting Strategy: Each participating member organization that has prioritized this criterion will define what constitutes a Product Safety Assessment and Recall Plan. Member organizations will report if they have a PS&RP. They will also report the number of public product recalls for those with plans during the reporting period.
- Reporting Schedule: Baseline established 2019 Annual reporting period is calendar year (January 1- December 31) Reports submitted to DSF by March 31 each subsequent year
